Auck and Waiheke, you rule
Just wanted to write and say what an ace time we had up north.
Thanks so much to our good friends Lydia Cole and the Glory Sea for playing with us at Live Bar on friday night. We had an awesome time. Best of luck in Briz Lydia, hope you find your boyfriend amongst the Australians. My new favorite song on your album is tonight, mostly cos it only has one chorus and leaves me gagging for another.
A massive thanks to all the humans who hung out with us on Saturday at Charlie Farley’s on Waiheke. We all think it might have been one of the most fun gigs we’ve played in a while, and sorry we left our albums to sell you in Auck… awkward. And to our Saudi Arabian friends who left before we played, may we see you for a beer and a dance soon.
Hamish has bailed to the Hong King Kong for a week or so which meant Nick, Rowan and myself were left to drive home as a 3-some. Unfortunately the heater broke on the Slow Crowe. Weird for her that things would break. So as soon as the sun went down (about Hamilton, cos I don’t think Hamiltron has seen the sun in about 12 years now) we started freezing our balls off. So we wrapped up in sleeping bags and scarves and hamish’s jacket he left under the seat and kept on driving. I stopped to pee and failed to acknowledge that my shoe had fallen out the door on to the grass and when I went to find it again in Taupo I came to the harsh realisation that I had just lost my 2 month old pair of shoes. I then drove across the desert road whilst wearing a sleeping bag with the bottom unzipped and no shoes and managed to almost cause my feet to fall off. N. George, being the champion that he is hauled the rest of the way home like an aged sea shepherd with no complaints and only 2 stops for wees.
finally, thanks to the 379a New North cats. We love you like we love 24 hour maccas drive through.
